Future ACES Foundation: A refreshed not-for-profit website for students, educators, donors and partners, kept secure and backed up

We refreshed and redesigned the website of the Herbert H. Carnegie Future ACES Foundation, moved it from its old theme to a new one without losing its content, and keep it secure, backed up and up to date, so the Foundation's small team can run it themselves. Launched in August 2025, with ongoing support.

The business

The Herbert H. Carnegie Future ACES Foundation is a registered charity founded by hockey pioneer Herb Carnegie. It teaches character and leadership to young people in Grades 4 to 12 through the Future ACES Creed, school programs, leadership conferences and scholarships.

The problem

  • The website serves many audiences at once: students, educators, parents, donors and community partners, and each needs to find their own path quickly.
  • The site needed a fresh look and a move to a new theme, without losing years of pages, media and links.
  • A small staff team has to keep programs, scholarships and events current without technical help.
  • A charity's website has to stay secure and recoverable, with regular updates and backups.

How we solved it

  1. 01

A refreshed design that brings the Future ACES Creed, the Foundation's school programs, its scholarships and its events together in one place that is easy to navigate, written in plain language for a broad audience.

  2. 02

A careful migration from the previous theme to the new one, carrying pages, media and links across.

  3. 03

Security and maintenance: core, theme and plugin updates, hardening, monitoring and scheduled backups.

  4. 04

Ongoing changes to pages and content as the Foundation's programs and campaigns evolve.

How they use it to grow

  • The refreshed site launched in August 2025, and we continue to support it.
  • The Foundation's small team updates the site themselves, without technical help.
  • Students, educators, donors and partners reach programs, stories and donations from the main navigation.
